What Are The Changes?
As of Aug 1st 2026 our sites became predominantly streaming only. Anybody currently a member on those days, will continue to be able to download for the lifetime of their membership and nothing has changed there but if your membership lapses, and you rejoin on most packages then we will only be offering streaming except in special circumstances.
Why The Change?
Quite simply, it’s just become economically unfeasible to continue to run the sites with this amount of content per week. We were able to allow downloads for the first 30 years of our existence, business has changed massively during that time and almost all adult sites are following the streaming model that has became industry standard. Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc. are all streaming only platforms. If they allowed a user to join for one month for one small fee and to download a years worth of viewing material and then cancelled, they would simply go out of business within months. We (and other adult website companies) are in the same boat, when a user joins for a month and is able to download the 12 months of updates since they last joined for one month, we’re losing money on that user and we don’t have the budgets to keep shooting new content.
I appreciate that this is going to upset some people, and I do understand that. This is why we’re allowing existing customers to be able to continue their download quota.
We also will allow downloads for users who:
- are 6 month, annual, VIP or lifetime members.
- rebill for their second 3 month membership
- rebill for the fourth 1 month membership
Your memberships will open up to downloads once you hit those tiers.
This will be going across all Grooby sites with the exception of GroobyVR or TransVR.
Grooby has been a lifework and a labor of love for many of us. We’re an important part of the trans porn community, and without us there would be far less models appearing, and less support for them. We appreciate all our members, and the support we’ve had over the years, and we ask you to be considerate when you read this. We never take lightly or underestimate how a change in the sites may affect some of our members – and have taken that into account. We thank you for your continued support.
Over the 30 years we’ve been in business, we’ve seen many changes in the industry, and the only way we’ve survived as a company is to continue to adapt. We are working in a small area of preference in trans porn, and within that genre we’ve smaller niches. Unlike website companies appealing to a larger audience of cis or gay porn, the potential income we make is a lot smaller, yet we show far more content on most of our sites than other companies, and some of our sites we run without a profit. Our margins are slim but to maintain this level and amount of content, we need to have good monthly budgets. Simply put, those who join a site for a month, once a year or so, don’t enable us to make a profit. Despite all costs rising around us – hosting, software, staff salaries, rent, etc. increasing and the rate of inflation being about 15% during this time, we’ve kept our membership prices frozen for 5 years.
Without making this change, it’s unlikely there would be a future for us, continuing to produce new content on a daily basis.

“I’ve been a member a long time, can you give me downloads?”
While we appreciate your membership, we’re providing at the limit of what we can and able to stay in business. Unless you are spending a substantial amount annually with us, ($1000+) it’s not something we’re going to be able to do.
“You are greedy and just trying to line your own pockets!”
We are a small company and we have to make profit to be able to continue to produce – for our staff to get paid fair wages, and for us to get this amount of money back to trans performers. If it was greed, we’d shoot way less and use other tactics to get more money out of you for less content. Nobody in this company is overpaid and have comparable packages to other media or adult companies. The simple fact is, unless there is enough budget there will be less shoots – and if you want to see the result of that, scroll to then bottom of the page when I will share our business model. If trans porn was that profitable, there would be a lot more websites out there.
“I’ve just joined for one month but want downloads – how can I change?”
We’re in the process of including an ‘upgrade membership’ into the site, but for the time being, anyone who has joined and realised that they’d prefer to upgrade can get a refund on their monthly membership so they can upgrade to an annual pass, if they contact us within their first 24 hours of joining. This is only for returning members who were not aware that this is now streaming only, and who have not joined another one of our streaming only sites.
“I only want to download. I want a refund”
I states very clearly on all our join pages that this is streaming and at no point does it mention the content is available to download. We will not be offering refunds on one month joins as we have delivered on what you agreed to purchase. Our Ecosystem and Business Model
For those interested in knowing a little more about how we operate (and an explanation of why we run at lower margins) please read on.
Almost every trans model you will see on a website originated with us. Companies like TransAngels, Gamma/AdultTime, Kink, Transsensual, Gender X and Evil Angel look to our sites when selecting new models for their upcoming productions, and show models often months or a year after they first debuted with us. We believe in trying as many models as we can, and show the widest range of models, different body sizes, ages, backgrounds, looks and where they are in their transition. Having this rich ecosystem of new models constantly coming though, while our most popular models are able to continue to shoot with us, means we always have vibrant new content, and we appeal to new models looking to dip their toes in the water and give it a try. I’d suggest those other companies, would have a hard time finding models, if they hadn’t been tested on a Grooby site first. We run Femout.xxx at cost to us – its a way for us to test new models, and give models who aren’t quite ready for our other sites, some ongoing work as they develop. We have new models coming in for BlackTgirls, GroobyGirls, TgirlBBW, Tgirls.xxx, Tgirl40 and our other sites regularly – and not every one of those girls is a hit. When we get a great new model, we will make our money back on what we paid her producer, ther performer and all the expenses that go into getting her on the website, but there are many girls who simply don’t appeal as much as we expected when we get to see the final shoot, and we lose money on those shoots. It’s a finely balanced system of always wanting to bring through new girls, while also giving the members their favourite returning models. Much of our content is solo – and this lets us test models faster and cheaper, while an easier first shoot to new models, but this content doesn’t make the aftermarket return hardcore does.
My view is if we cut back on shooting content, to provide a profit large enough to shoot better on, that we would be shooting less models a year, less newcomers and less reshoots of the same models and that would cause the ecosystem to collapse. We have to keep giving as many trans performers as we can, ongoing shoots and bringing through the next generation to stay healthy.
